I’ve definitely been MIA for the last few days…it was a super busy weekend. Let’s delve.
Thursday was Thanksgiving. Happy belated Thanksgiving, Style and Sports readers! Hmm…not quite the same effect as a Happy belated Birthday, eh? Anyway, Molly and I ran the Turkey Day 5K that morning. Which meant that we had to get up at 6 in order to hit Starbucks on the way downtown. 6 AM wake up calls are no fun. Especially when it’s your day off. Which is why we looked so incredibly animated to be awake at that crazy hour:
But once we got checked in and took lots of pictures of how tired we were (no, you don’t get to see those. this was the only semi-decent one), we got started. And the crowd really revved us up:
Which somehow made us commit to the Twin Cities Marathon next year. Oh boy. Can I re-evaluate come February when I actually have to start training?
My aunt had Thanksgiving dinner at her house, and it was fabulous. And this guy even spent some time with me, even though he was “very busy making a machine“.

As noted before, the camera on my phone is absolutely amazing. Riiiiight.
Friday. One o’clock Minnesota Wild game. Unfortunately, we lost. To the Tampa Bay Lightning. Awesome.
Saturday we smashed the Nashville Predators. Six to two. In Tennessee. The more that Antti Miettinen plays, the more happy I am that we signed him. He had three assists Saturday night. And boy (Kirsten will be glad to hear this) am I glad that Bruno is back. He scored once and had two assists. Seriously, he shoulda been given the “C” this month. He’s a great role model on the ice, and I have a feeling that he’d be a good leader off the ice. And I have a feeling that Andrew Brunette helps sell more Wild tickets than Kim Johnsson does. No offense meant or anything.
Sunday was the Vikings vs. Bears game. I didn’t have high hopes for the hometown team. It’s ok, you can call me a fair weather fan. I won’t be offended. Now we just have to see if they can keep this winning energy going through the end of the season. They’re currently are seated in the number one spot of the division, but the Minnesota Vikings have this way of screwing things up, so I wouldn’t make any playoff plans quite yet. Yep, Ms. Fair Weather over here again….
And this week we’re all set up for three (yes, you heard me right, THREE) Minnesota Wild home games: tonight, Wednesday night and Friday night. Followed by ten whole days without the Minnesota Wild at home. So if you have a penchant for going to games…well, you’d better get your patootie in gear and buy Minnesota Wild tickets for one of the games this week. Otherwise you’ll have to wait. And waiting is no fun when you’re impatient like I am.
Who are the Minnesota Wild taking on tonight at the Xcel Energy Center, you ask? Why, none other than our division rivals, the Colorado Avalanche. Again, Bruno faces off against his old team. Think he’ll be able to hold it together and score some goals for us? I sure as heck hope so, he’s commented before that he has a hard time playing against his old teammates. Hopefully the other guys on the Minnesota Wild roster can step up and kick some Avs bootie tonight, too. I’d really like to see a solid win for the hometown team. We could definitely use one.

ohhh are you ADDICTED to the holiday drinks at starbucks?! usually im a traditional hot choc girl but over thanksgiving break i tried the carmel apple spice -i HIGHLY recommend this

I give you props for running the 5K Turkey Day – but wow, the TC Marathon is huge . . . I am envious.
Perhaps a 10 day break is what the Wild fans of Minnesota need. The team hasn’t been playing well enough to keep us excited and they have been home so much that we aren’t yearning for them, either. Weird season, so far – don’t you think?
